A very wet and foggy day one on our trip!

I had originally intended to leave Sunday Oct 23rd, but high winds and waves kept me stuck in Belmont till Tuesday afternoon.

The wind is supposed to go from 20-25 S to 20-25 NE tonight, so I grabbed the small window of light air between the two to make a break for the lock. The lake had calmed down some but boy it still tossed us around pretty good. Ended up being a good stress test for the mast framing, didn’t move an inch.

We did have one issue. I noticed as we left the harbor that the alternator light was on, which means the engine isn’t charging the batteries… I installed a new Balmar 120amp Alternator and External Regualtor a few weeks ago and it’s been working great. I did however add a switch yesterday that cut the output by 50% so I could limit wear on belts when needed, I suspected knocked something loose in the process.

So we tied up at Canal St Marina (Nadia’s old winter home) to plug in and charge the batteries while I troubleshooted, turns out, I did knock a wire loose. Easy fix.

So now we will settle in for dinner, I have some clean laundry to put away, and maybe watch a movie, praise be to Starlink….

That’s all for now. Filmed a bunch with the GoPro, will probably start putting up videos once a week. Haven’t really decided yet.

Cheers, Graham, Bosun, & Hurley
