Day 3: The Day I Decided I Will Do a Youtube Channel…
Started off to a much warmer morning on the Joliet wall. Was tied up with two very friendly loopers, one Bavaria 42 Power Boat, and a Morgan Outisland sailboat named “Gypsea”
We set off for the Brandon Road lock, narrowly beating a barge and thus avoiding having to wait a whole cycle.
From there I headed to Ottawa, two more locks ahead of me, Dresden Island Lock, and Marseilles.
It was a warm, sunny day. A No News is Good News kind of day.
We made a pit stop for a dog potty break about 5pm at Springbrook Marina. I thought about stopping at the restaurant there for dinner, but decided against it. Glad I did.
Ran into the Bavaria 42 again waiting for Marseilles lock. Lock master decided to send us in with a tug, which was not unusual. What was unusual is instead of tying to the side of a barge, they handed us long lines and had us stay on the wall next to the tug. I remember thinking “this will be interesting”. Needless to say, I’m glad I had two gopros running. One of the most stressful situations I’ve ever experienced on or off the water. I’ll upload the video once I edit it down, but for now I leave you with a picture of my gps track.
Myself, the dogs, Gypsy, and our dinghy are fine. Not a scratch.
Can’t say the same about the Bavaria.
I write this safely tied up at the wall in Ottawa. Pouring a stiff rum drink and putting on a movie.
Cheers, y’all.
