Day 7: Happy Halloween from Beardstown, IL

Another cold and rainy start… but by noon it was warming up and getting sunny. A short but easy run to Beardstown today. Again no marina due to low water so I anchored about a mile south of town and took the dinghy in. This is where I got my first Asian Carp experience. I wish I had video of it, missed my head by a few inches…

There’s no good place to land a dinghy so decided to embrace my Halloween spirit and do my best Huck Finn impersonation, rolled up my pants and waded it in to shore. Which in the Caribbean is fun, the Illinois river, not so much.

Meeting a friend from Chicago for drinks/dinner who is stopping on their way back from St. Louis. Tomorrow looks like another anchorage but the weather looks GREAT this week.
