Day 13: The End Of Our Mississippi Adventure…

Got an early start for our 9 hour day today! Did 40+ miles to finish our time on the Upper Mississippi River, at Cairo Illinois the Upper Miss, Lower Miss (What you have seen on the news with the low water), and the Ohio River Meet.

Had I gone right, it would have taken me to New Orleans (while running aground a few times along the way), left takes us up the Ohio against the current, to Paducah, KY then to Kentucky Lake and the Tennessee River.

We went from doing 7.5-8 knots on the Miss to 3 knots on the Ohio… the current is no joke. We made it to the Olmstead Lock and anchored out for the night. The dinghy ride to shore ended with an abrupt halt… about 100ft from shore. Had to roll up the jeans and wade to shore with the who princes on board refusing to get their paws wet. 🙄

The lock said they will let us through right at 7am so we will have to do an early shore run.

Excited to see some family tomorrow!
