Day 15: Paducah, KY to Green Turtle Bay Marina With a Stowaway

This morning we went for coffee in town but we had to leave early before the shops open otherwise Mary Beth wouldn’t let us leave until she could browse every store in town…

Off the dock by 7:44 and by 7:54 Mary Beth had pulled every article of clothing out of every storage space and was going on about how they need to be ironed. Which is hilarious on a boat.

For the first 4 hours she didn’t pop her head up but continued to try to talk to me from the v berth, so I finally gave her a handheld VHF…

It turned out to be a beautiful day and we enjoyed 8 hours of motoring along with almost no barge traffic. Mom got to drive a bit, I got to exercise my vocal cords for the first time on the trip.

Only one lock today which they kindly held for us, the current slowed us down to 4.5 knots for most of the day. Made it to Green Turtle Bay, my parents have a condo for a few days and I made a slip reservation till thursday, looking forward to my first day off from travelling since I left chicago. Will take advantage of the day to get some projects done that I haven’t done yet. This marina is great, restaurants, full service boat yard, condos, spa, etc. Hoping we can talk the marina into stepping my mast while I’m here, would be great to get that done.

Thursday we will head to Paris Landing…
