Day 18: Paris To Cuba in 8 Hours Flat!

Boy who knew you could stay in the midwest and travel the world?! Left Paris Landing this am bound for Cuba Landing. It was a warm but windy day on Kentucky Lake covering 43nm in about 8 hrs.

Mom came with today and Dad was shore support. We saw pelicans, cormorants, bald eagles, and more! Not much barge traffic today which is always nice. Cuba Landing is a nice marina with covered slips, it’s supposed to rain tonight AND get C-O-L-D. So toying with the idea of staying put here for a day to get some work done and wait for slightly warmer weather. But I may decide to wake up and push on. TBD.

Hurley our resident trash panda/racoon got into something he shouldn’t have, which resulted in an explosion all over the foredeck… He was trying to express his discomfort but we couldn’t figure out what he wanted till he went to the back of the boat and almost made a leap of (misplaced) faith for the dinghy. Once we figured out he wanted to go to shore I moved him to the foredeck and you can guess the rest. So that is another motivating factor to stay put for a day…

Parents last day was today, the plan is for them to head back to Chicago. It was really fun having them come and visit for a few days, along with them being a huge help with some boat projects. Would love to have them stay longer but real life is calling back in Chicago.

Will see what the weather has in store for us tomorrow, next port-o-call will be Clifton, TN just before Pickwick dam..

Adios from Cuba
