Day 22: That was short! But we did cross 2 state borders in 7 miles…
Cold gloomy day here on Pickwick Lake. Had a productive morning with work, I had the option of a short 7 mile day or to continue past a stretch of 25 miles where you can’t stop or anchor (Divide Cut on the Tenn Tom).
I opted to use today as a work day (or 1/2 work day) and make a short hop to Grand Harbor Marina. Didn’t leave Pickwick State Marina till almost 10am, and got in to Grand Harbor Marina by noon.
We are officially on the Tenn-Tom Waterway, a man-made canal that connects the Tennessee River to the Tombigbee River and the Gulf of Mexico through Mobile Bay.
Very nice facility here, well protected, diesel under $6 a gallon, and a pizza shop on their fuel dock that is actually very good!
Filled up my tank and jerry cans, did some math, with everything full, I should have enough fuel to make it all the way to Mobile (with a 100 mile cushion)
By The Numbers: 729nm Covered 394nm Left till Mobile 6 States (Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi) 136 Hours underway 100.8 Gallons of diesel burned 22 Days Since Leaving Belmont 14 Nights in a marina 8 Nights on a free wall or at anchor $607.63 Spent on fuel $533 spent on Dockage (with the cold weather I have spent WAY more time at docks than I had planned. But that’s ok, it is certainly easier to walk the pups that way.)
Enjoying our surprisingly good pizza here tucked into Grand Harbor Marina for the rest of the day/night
