Sunday Funday here in the Exumas

Sunday Funday here in the Exumas…
We had a windless sail today, meaning the main was up but the iron genoa down below was doing most of the work.
We hopped down to a quiet spot, O’Brien Cay. There is a plane wreck and an underwater aquarium to snorkel. The best part is it’s too shallow for all these obnoxious below-deck wannabees with their chartered super yachts and jet skis zipping around. Perfection.
Below Deck has ruined cruising, every mildly successful wannabe influencer is here zipping on jet-skis between anchored boats. I met another sailing couple here today, they have been coming down for 10 years and they say it gets worse every year. I made a joke about how Jet Skier’s should be in season when lobsters are, he said he thought about using his Remington more than once.. 🤣
Anyways. Back to O’Brien Cay, it’s Stunning. Well protected from every direction, and best yet it’s QUIET. There is zero noise besides the water lapping against the hull. The other boats here seem to acknowledge that is why we are all here and keep their stereos low. Nirvana on water.
I went and dove a plane wreck after anchoring, a strong current made it a short adventure but still cool. I didn’t do the Aquarium because I figured I could hit that tomorrow. But we did find another small secluded island the dogs could explore. The Hinckley 48 beached in the sand was a welcome sight as well. Love it when an owner uses their boat for exactly what it was designed for.
This may be my favorite spot in the Bahamas so far. It’s a real gem.
