After 13 years of abandonment, I breathed life into Challenge’s 1975 Ford Lehman Diesel engine.

Unbeknownst to me, this was a diesel deigned by Ford in England. I figured this out when it took me 4 different size wrenches to bleed the fuel line. On a Yanmar (Japanese) you only need two…

Also, I discovered the electronics (of which there are few thank god) are made by Lucas, like any good English engine. The starter looks like it could turn over a Detroit 12v72… bolted to a 4 cylinder engine.

Anyways, after replacing all three fuel filters, oil and oil filter change, then bleeding the air out of the fuel lines, she sprung to life rather effortlessly. Got to love a simple diesel.

On to the next project.
